Experimental data of soil stress state components: major stresses S1, S2 and S3 as well as stress invariants in the octahedral stress system: OCTSS (octahedral shear stress), MNS (mean normal stress), were measured and analysed in the aspect of vehicle-terrain interaction and vehicle mobility. Soil stress data were captured with a stress state transducer (SST) which consists of six stress sensors for spatial measurements. In the experiments, tracked and wheeled vehicles of various weights were used. Soil stress data were collected under various conditions of vehicle speed, slip and inflation pressure. The analysis of the data was performed in order to describe vehicle-soil interactions as well as for wheel-soil modelling purposes.
