The corrosion behaviour of ultra-fine grained (UFG) copper produced by equi-channel angular extrusion (ECAE) is investigated in terms of anodic potentiodynamic and potentiostatic polarization curves and surface morphology. A special attention is paid to the role of grain boundaries (GBs) and the effect heat treatment on the corrosion properties. The dissolution rate of the UFG Cu immersed into the acid solution is found higher than that of annealed polycrystals similarly to conventional cold-worled or fine-grained materials. However, the degree of corrosion localization in the UFG ECAE state is low if compared with that in the coarse-grained or fine grained state obtained by annealing of the UFG material at moderate temperatures.
