This paper provides an overview of the current status and future developments of the new Copenhagen Driverless Metro, whose main features are representative of a new generation of driverless systems. Reasons to prefer a driverless system are discussed. Cardinal requirements for a driverless metro are related to key subsystem requirements. The need to focus on extensive modeling, adequate interface management, and integration and test strategies is emphasized. Lessons learned on the Copenhagen Metro project are exposed.
