This numerical study examines the conditions for the transition from progressive plastic buckling to dynamic plastic buckling of thin-walled circular tubes with an increase in the axial impact velocity. Progressive plastic buckling, dynamic plastic buckling and a funnel-form type deformation are studied using a FEM for sixteen kinds of end conditions. The transitions of the plastic buckling modes for the circular tubes were obtained for a range of initial deformations and impact velocities.
