摘要

Ferritic Stainless Steels (FSS) are popular for their resistance to corrosion and scaling at elevated temperatures. FSS are having higher yield strength than Austenitic Stainless Steel (ASS) and they are cheep alternative to ASS. However, the heats of welding leads to grain coarsening in the heat affected zone (HAZ) and in the weldmetal of FSS because they solidify from liquid to the ferritic phase without any intermediate phase transformation. The present investigation has been carried out to study the influence of Aluminium, Titanium and Copper addition on mechanical properties of FSS weldments. AISI 409M grade FSS has been used as the base metal and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes have been used to fabricate the weldments and the E-308L ASS has been used as the filler metal.
