In the homogeneous partial oxidation of methane to methanol, the reactor can be divided into three reaction zones if the temperature was high enough to ignition the reaction. The reaction was completed in the fierce reaction zone. If the catalyst was located in the post reaction zone, it can only cause the decomposition of methanol. Then, if the catalyst is expected to improve the methanol selectivity, it must be located in pre. reaction zone to initiate the reaction at low temperature, or in the fierce reaction zone to affect the homogeneous reactions. The latter functional form is more promising to our opinion.
