Evolution of placer formation in shelf areas of the northeastern Eurasia

Placer formation along the Arctic coast of northeastern Eurasia is closely related to the progressive destruction of the continental margin since the Eocene. Under these conditions, local structural-sedimentary traps, such as active tectonic scarps, present in the immediate vicinity of a primary source, appear as the main concentrators of large-scale economic placer deposits.
