Self-mecilcation and the excessive alcohol and drug consumption at adolescents and young people from Timis County, Romania

Among the unique teenagers' health problems are the abuse of substances, self-medication and binge-drinking. Two representative populations of 2907 pupils of 15-18 years old and 2074 students of 18 - 25 years old were investigated. A transversal populational study was made by applying in group an anonymous the CORT 2004. A percentage of 0.4 of adolescents resort to medicine without having any medical recommendation at least once a week. A percentage of 5.7 of teenagers are drug consumers. In adolescence boys had an excessive alcohol consume of 27% and girls in 8.2%. During the university period, the excessive alcohol consume to boys was 32.7% and girls 10.9%. The results of this survey are useful in the process of rethinking prevention methods by developing strategies of information and formation towards a healthy lifestyle.
