SOME ASPECTS OF CROSS-CORRUGATED SANDWICH CORE PLATE

This paper contains a description of the cross-corrugation geometry of Rapp-type sandwich core. Unit cell geometry and expansion/contraction properties are evaluated. From deformations of a given unit cell, the macroscopic expansion properties (Poisson 's ratio) and the plate curvature interdependence are quantified. A special class of overlapping patterns, designed for suppressing face-sheet buckling, is described. The improvement of structural performance, compared to uniaxial corrugated core plate, is verified by experiment.
