Numerical modelisation of the thermal field in a slab in concrete destined to the production of sanitary hot water

In involves determining temperature distribution in a slab destined to produce hot sanitary water. For that purpose a copper coil is drowned in this slab. The slab is covered by a pane of glass and is insulated on the other sides. The approach consists in undertaking a decomposition in Fourier series of the ambience function and in applying the principle of superposition of the different responses in order to arrive at the response of the slab to any solicitation and to obtain theoretical results which conform to experimental ones. A two-dimensional numerical model has been developed. It uses the implicit method of finite differences of ADI (Alternating Direction Implicit) type of Peaceman and Readford that ensures a large stability during the resolution of a two-dimensional unsteady problem with a large number of knots. Results obtained by applying the FEHT (Finite Element Heat Transfer) software of F.Chart Software have been added to the theoretical and experimental ones. The application of the FEHT software permits the representation, among others, of the isothermal lines and the gradients of temperature in the slab.
