FLUE GAS CO_2 RECOVERY AND COMPRESSION COST STUDY FOR CO_2 ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY

A comprehensive economic study has been carried out on CO_2 recovery plants in the Middle East area for the purpose of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) based on various parameters which included (ⅰ) the capacity of the CO_2 recovery unit, (ⅱ) the utility cost, (ⅲ) the pipeline cost and (ⅳ) any other operational requirements. A cost analysis of CAPEX and OPEX is presented. The sensibility of various parameters affecting the CO_2 recovery cost is also discussed. As result of the study, CO_2 recovery and compression costs from boilers are estimated to be between 0.83 and 1.15 US$/MSCF (16 to 22 USS/Ton), which is equivalent to the expected CO_2 trading price in Europe.
