The design, fabrication and performance analysis of an Asymmetric Compound Parabolic Collector with potential usage in various applications is described in this paper. The asymmetric compound parabolic collector which combines the configuration of compound parabolic collector, a circular profile and the flat plate collector has the unique advantage of heating the absorber plate from both above and below. These concentrators could be effectively used for various applications like solar water heater, solar still and solar cooker. An asymmetric compound parabolic collector has been fabricated making use of a base unit which consists of a CPC reflector profile, metallic absorber plate & tube assembly, solar still basin and the fluid-loop unit. The fabricated concentrator is tested for optical and thermal performance. The fabricated unit serves various household applications like hot water generation, distillation of water and cooking.
