Enhancement of the silicon solar cells/system performance by organic and inorganic dyes

The spectral responses of monocyrstalline, polycrystalline and amorphous silicon solar cells are measured by two ways of light exposure (indoors, outdoors). The organic and inorganic dyes have high selection for the incident light, where they absorb some bands of the solar spectrum and transmit others. A different types of these organic and inorganic substances are prepared in distilled water at definite concentration to obtain an optical selective filters, which are coupled with the silicon solar cells. The spectral transmission for each solution of these substances are measured separately. These properties are tested to capture the portion of the spectrum useful for the silicon solar cells to quantum convertor, while channelling the "excess heat" of the photons with energies below the band gap to thermal convertor. Finally, the overall silicon solar cells performance are enhanced by different percentage dependign primarily on the selection part for each solution.
