FLASH as a software development tool for information literacy

The effectiveness of use of the Flash MX software for writing online information literacy programs needs to be weighed against the cost and time involved. In the case of the Medical Library, the prospect of a more user interactive tutorial, written in a modular approach and able to be used in numerous courses, made the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Smaller libraries may not find it advantageous to undergo such a stringent learning curve for the software but this would tend to depend on the Librarian and their comfort with computer programs and learning new software.
