The increasing research in ad-hoc networking enables the formation of transient peer communities for asynchronous information exchange. This has made it possible to offer network connectivity and a wide range of network services with no fixed infrastructure present. However, most ad-hoc network research has focused on the former, i.e. the provision of network connectivity, f n this paper, we address the latter, the provision of services through asynchronous message exchanges. We propose a framework that provides virtual connectivity for mobile users while they are in regions without any wireless infrastructure support. Through the mathematical analysis and simulations, we show that with the virtual connectivity provided through the use of couriers, it is able to offer a number of valuable services with an acceptable level of quality.
