In all-optical WDM networks, all-optical connections, (or Lightpaths) implement the communication architecture between network entities. The networks must have an efficient connection control mechanism that is able to determine routes and reserve resources in a manner which is scalable and which provides a low degree of blocking for connection requests and also able to support highly dynamic and bursty traffic through the rapid on-demand provisioning of lightpaths. In this paper, we present a distributed lightpath control protocol in which a new resource reservation scheme, SDCR and Conditional Oneway data transmission mechanism are deployed. The simulation results show that our protocol outperforms other approaches, regarding the performances of setup delay and network utilization.
