摘要

The objective of this study is to analyze the biomechanical properties of two atlantoaxial surgical fixation methods: the Harms' method and the Tan's method. A nonlinear three-dimensional finite element model of atlas and screws has been established to predict the different biomechanical performance of these two methods. Four external mechanical conditions have been applied in succession, and the maximal value and distribution of the reaction forces have been obtained and discussed. This work provides a technique to perform biomechanical analysis of clinical bone fixation methods by computer simulation.
