摘要

Objective Assessment of betaxolol therapy in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and hypertension (HT). Materials and Methods In an open study on 3149 patients aged 61.7 +- 9.5 years, betaxolol was given (10-40 mg daily) for 8 weeks to patients not taking p-blockers. BPr HR and weight were measured and a questionnaire was administered. Multivariate regression analysis was used to estimate the predictors of BP response. Results Regression analysis showed that the SBP fall was significantly higher in smokers and patients with increased double product, and lower in older, more obese, diabetic patients or those on a high-salt diet. The decrease in DBP was negatively related to obesity and positive family history of HT. Conclusions Double product may be useful to predict normalisation of SBP during pVblockcr therapy.
