Left Ventricular Diastolic Function After AMI Predicts Left Ventricular Expansion in Patients with Modestly Reserved Left Ventricular Systolic Function

The purpose of present study is to assess the relation between LV diastolic function after AMI and LV remodeling in patients with modestly reserved LV systolic function. The study population consisted of 51 AMI-patients treated with primary PCI. Patients with <40% of LVEF were excluded. Echocardiography was performed before discharge and 6 months after admission. Diastolic function was categorized as normal (grade 0), impaired (grade 1), pseudonormal (grade 2) and restrictive (grade 3). Diastolic function grade is associated with 6-month LVEDVI and LVESVI. There was modest evidence of the association between LA volume index and 6-month LVEDVI and LVESVI. We concluded LV diastolic function after AMI was a predictor of subsequent LV volume expansion.
