Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is increasingly used as a standard tool in the evaluation not only of the LV (1,2) but also of the RV(3). Moreover, in the setting of recent STEMI, a precise quantification of the salvaged myocardium is possible using this technique. Therefore, CMR permits an accurate characterization of the impact of an STEMI on the RV (2-4). However, this sort of approach has not been carried out so far. In the present study, we aimed to characterize the area at risk, infarct size, and salvaged myocardium of the RV measured by CMR and its correlation with LV repercussion, ECG findings and clinical presentation in 38 patients with a first reperfused STEMI due to proximal right coronary artery occlusion.
