Experiences of Using Histidine-Tryptophan-Ketoglutarate Solution in Cardiac Surgery with Longer Ischemia Time

Introduction: We aim to evaluate our clinical experiences of using HTK solution for myocardial protection in patients who needed complicated surgical procedures.Materials and Methods: The HTK solution was administered in 30-40 mL/Kg within one shot, and the perfusion time was about 6-8 minutes. The patients were divided into two groups according to their clamping time. Group A patients had shorter clamping time (<180 minutes), and group B patients had longer ischemia time (>180 minutes). The patient's preoperative characteristics, postoperative blood biochemistry study, cardiac function, hospital mortality, short-term survival and functional status were obtained.
