Exercise has long been associated with reduced cardiovascular mortality and overall longevity in apparently healthy individuals and also in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of exercise with different intensities on the myocardium of Wistar rats with metabolic syndrome. Twenty male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups (n=5); Control (C), Metabolic Syndrome (MS), Metabolic Syndrome and low intensity exercises (MS+L), and Metabolic Syndrome and moderate intensity exercises (MS+M). The data obtained suggest that the low intensity exercise is more efficient than the moderate intensity exercise at minimizing the alterations caused by the metabolic syndrome in the myocardium of Wistar rats.
