The constitution, principle and experimental results of a photoelectric velocity measurement system of duplex ammunition are introduced. The exist various sensing device test techniques are reviewed and some limitations used in duplex-ammunition velocity measurement are pointed out. Based on the mentioned above, a photoelectric screen method, has been put forward to measure the velocity of both bullets of duplex-ammunition. The system consists of a pair of photoelectric screens for velocity measurement, a single-chip computer transacting module and a host computer etc.. The single-chip computer module adopted 8XC552 single-chip computer of Philips Corp. Between the single-chip computer and the host computer, the inter-transition circuit has been designed. The host computer adopted RS-232C universal serial interface. The single-chip computer transacting software and host computer control software has been designed. Using the measurement system, the velocity of duplex ammunition could be obtained. From the results it is concluded that the equipment is eligible for the velocity measurement of the duplex-ammunition. The results are more excellent than the results measured by coil sensor initial velocity measurement system.
