Seismic isolation is one of several structural seismic response control techniques, which were developed in Russia recently. More than 400 buildings and bridges are seismoisolated in Russia and in former USSR countries. Recent developments in seismoisolation are presented in this paper. Several buildings were designed and constructed with flexible or rocking supports and additional hysteretic or dry friction dampers in Ulan-Ude-city, in Irkutsk-city, in Almaty-city. The structural systems and seismoisolation elements were described at the former Post-Smirt Seminars (Cheju, Korea, 1999 and at former seminars). Recently an existing Bank building in Irkutsk-city was retrofitted and strengthened. The building is valuable in architectural and historical aspects. It was constructed without any antiseismic reinforcement because the area was believed to be seismic not active. At the current seismic zonation maps the design PGA up to 2 m/sec~2 earthquakes with return periods 500 years are predicted. Steel rubber supports were used for base isolation. The supports were produced in China Shtantou, at Vibrotech Company. Experimental studies of the supports were provided in Guanjou University, under supervision of Prof. Zhou, with the authors of this paper and with Dr. Joe Chung from Vibrotech Company participation.
