In order to clarify the deformation behavior of structure-sand ground system subjected to cyclic loadings such as wave force, a series of FE analysis based on Mohr-Coulomb criteria with non-associated flow rule, together with 1 g model tests were carried out under various loading conditions. In the model test, characteristics of elastic modulus of sand deposits were investigated in detail and were quantified. It is observed that the stiffness of sand deposits changes with increasing of the settlement of structure. Softening behavior of sand deposits suddenly occurs if lateral flow deformation due to cyclic loading exceeds a limit. Based on such behavior, a new analytical technique in use for predicting deformation of structure-ground was proposed. The analytical results can explain well the lateral deformation of sand ground-structure system under various loading conditions.
