The development and implementation of a bounding surface plasticity model into a finite element code are described in this paper. The model is an extension of a recently developed unified critical state model. The prediction by the new model is compared with results from standard triaxial tests. It appears to be an improvement on the original model in terms of predicting a smooth stress-strain curve. The application of the new model is illustrated through the analysis of a typical geotechical boundary value problem.
