This paper is focused on delineation of the volume of mechanistic information necessary and sufficient to deduce the justified kinetic equation for any heterogeneous catalytic process proceeding with a rate-determining step. In accordance with the earlier conception, the occurrence of a rate-determining step means that the other portion of the reaction under consideration is the equilibrium one.
