This study compares the abrasive wear resistance of two metal alloys: carbon steel, used in the linings of coal mills, and two iron alloys whose chromium content is high. It will also analyse the influence of mechanical properties, such as hardness and microstructure, on the wear resistance value. The wear resistance of various materials was determined by following the procedure outlined in the regulation ASTM G 105, "Standard Test Method for Conducting Wet Sand /Rubber Wheel Abrasion Test". Moreover, the study employed blasting tests that simulated the working conditions within coal mills.
