The erosion resistance comparison, morphology examination and mechanism discussion of thermally sprayed coatings were presented in this paper. The erosion tests were carried out on a nozzle type elevated temperature erosion tester. One bed ash retrieved from an operating boiler was used as erodent material. The coatings included five high velocity continuous combustion (HVCC) arc sprayed metal coatings and seven high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) sprayed metal and carbide cermet coatings. AISI 1018 low carbon steel was also tested for reference.
