A Framework to Develop a Decision-Making Methodology for Implementing Enterprise Integrated Systems within SMEs

It has been recognised that SMEs have to continuously improve their competitiveness to assert themselves in the global market. There is also a great need for integration of information systems in SMEs that typically lack the financial resources, personnel and IT expertise of large enterprises. This research paper describes a framework in order to create an effective decision-making model for adopting integrated information systems within SMEs. The literature review concerning this area of research has established that there were two gaps in the knowledge that required further research. These research gaps with research scope are presented in detail in this paper. The overall specifications of the proposed methodology are also discussed.
