Geography Information System of Soil and Water Conservation in the Yellow River Basin

摘要

This paper introduces the methods of information classifying, encoding, remote sensing data collection and image processing of soil and water conservation information. Taking the Tuwei River valley that is one of heavy soil and water erosion areas located at upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River as the research object, we emphasize on how to realize the digital system of soil and water conservation with remote sensing (RS) and geography information (GIS) as well as the characteristic and function of the GIS. That is, depending on the information from RS, we can develop the soil and water conversation GIS based on the second developing GIS software with fast querying rate and powerful function. This system can be extended to the whole Yellow River basin and provide scientific data for the soil and water conservation of the Yellow River basin.
