Lagrangian Particle Dispersion Model (LPDM) with non-equilibrium level 2.5 closure turbulence was proposed to simulate the dispersion from an elevated source. The main advance of the proposed model is that any empirical relationships are not required in the calculation of variances of fluctuating velocities and other turbulence components. The atmospheric flows were simulated by the non-equilibrium 2.5 level turbulence model and the turbulence characteristics required as the input data in the calculation of the LPDM were then calculated from the flow model results. The correlations for the turbulence characteristics are, therefore, not required in the proposed LPDM. The performance of the LPDM using the non-equilibrium 2.5 level closure was tested against wind tunnel measurements of Snyder (1979) and Khurshudyan et al. (1981) as well as the water tank measurements of Deardorff and Willis (1985). The predicted turbulence components and concentration profiles were in good agreement with those of the measurements. The results imply that the proposed model can be used to simulate the atmospheric flows and dispersions under various stability conditions.
