Undoubtedly, the above discussion on the causes of coke oven hard-pushing and the troubleshooting guidelines are not inclusive of every possible situation that may exist when encountering these problems. The discussions on the nature of oven pushing problems and possible coal-related and operational causes of hard-pushed and stickers should provide useful information and better understanding to coke plant operators and technical personnel. Based on experiences of the authors, if the proposed guidelines and checklists are used the pushing problems will be quickly identified in most instances. This approach allows a fast resolution towards minimizing coke production losses and the associated expense of these problem that unfortunately plague most coke plants periodically.
