Weighted median method for centerline estimation

摘要

This paper introduces a methodology for accurately estimating the centerlines of control charts in light of the presence of special causes of variability. Because this median-based method does not get pulled in the direction of extreme subgroups, it forms robust estimates of the process mean and variance that will yield the intended α and β errors of the control chart.
