Next Generation Fan Drives: Mechanical, Hydraulic or Electric?

Cooling system design is a multidiscipline task requiring expertise in three key areas. Knowing and understanding the measures of success for the system is the first and most important step. After understanding the desired output of the system, a designer must choose a technology to transfer power through the selected system while evaluating system level design tradeoffs. The information presented in this paper addresses these three areas of design and their impact on the complete cooling system.
