The ISO 6358 which specifies the flow-rate characteristics of pneumatic components represents the flow-rate characteristics over the full range using "Sonic conductance C" and "Critical pressure ratio b". Although it can be called the best one at present compared with various kinds of conventional representation methods, it is necessary to attain much more evolution in both representation method and test method of flow-rate characteristics. Therefore, a research committee under Japan Fluid Power Association (JFPA) has conducted a detailed investigation and research on the characteristics representation method and test method and have proposed the standard proposal to improve ISO 6358 to International Organization for Standardization. In this paper, the background and content of the standard proposal will be explained, the feature of each test method in the proposal will be discussed and some results of round robin tests will be shown.
