An Optical Technique for Measuring Unsteady Aerodynamic Loads

This paper describes an optical technique for determining dynamic aerodynamic loads based on elastic deformation measurements of a beam using a videogrammetric system. Data reduction method is developed to extract the normal force and loading position from beam deformation data. Proof-of-concept calibration experiments are conducted to assess the feasibility of measuring aerodynamic loads using this optical technique.
