New Grade CPC Roll and a Centrifugal Cast HSS Roll with CPC Outer Shell Chemistries

It has been developed both a new grade of CPC rolls and a CPC chemistry Outer Shell but manufactured by centrifugal casting to improve performance for Hot Strip Mill rolling. This paper will describe the performance both a new grade CPC and a new grade Spin Cast rolls with an outer shell using the chemistries of CPC rolls. New grade CPC has increased alloys which is greater than normal grades. The new grade Spin Casting roll has a manufacturing break through that permits increasing the alloy content that high alloy make wear performance better. The CPC material on the outer shell contains high performance alloys. Recent data shows that both performances have increased by 30 percent over other CPC rolls and conventional Cast HSS rolls. This technology permits lower cost per ton than conventional HSS and CPC rolls.
