摘要

Senecavirus A (SVA), also known as Seneca Valley virus or SW, is in the family Picornaviridae and has been demonstrated to cause vesicular disease in pigs.' SVA is also associated with transient neonatal losses on some infected sow farms but experimental teproduction of this syndrome has not been reported.' The routes of transmission and sources of virus introduction into naive farms often remain speculative. Boar semen is a possible source for virus introduction and it has been previously reported to be PCR-positive from at least one naturally-infected boar but has not been subject to thorough investigation.2 This abstract will describe SVA viral RNA shedding in semen and tissue distribution at necropsy from two naturally-infected boars, as well as provide data from experimentally-inoculated boars.
