Influenza A virus is a common respiratory infection of swine herds throughout the world. In the United States, most infections are caused by the HIN 1, H1N2, and H3N2 subtypes.1 Clinical signs of infection include the sudden onset of fever, inappetence, lethargy, coughing, dyspnea, and nasal discharge.1 Mortality is typically less than 1%, but morbidity is generally near 100%. The severity and length of the disease varies depending on the pig's age, health, immune status, and the presence of co-infections.1
