Recent research indicates that Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyo) infection significantly increases porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) replication, the severity of PCV2-induced lesions, and the incidence of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in co-infected pigs. However, it has also been reported that M. hyo bacterins with oil-based adjuvants may significantly increase PCV2 replication and the severity of PCV2-induced lyniphoid depletion compared to placebo controls or bacterins with aqueous adjuvants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the losses or gains associated with the use of three different commercially available M. hyo bacterins in pigs experimentally co-infected with M. hyo and PCV2.
