In this research, we introduced crosslinked hemoglobin into cell microcapsules to prevent oxidative stresses that may be produced by host immune systems when transplanted. Due to the unique nitric oxide scavenging effect of Hb, the incorporation of Hb-C into microcapsules effectively protected the cells from nitric oxide induced cellular damage.
