A novel technique, liquid extrusion porosimetry for determination of pore volume and pore distribution is described. This technique does not require the use of mercury or any other toxic substance like the mercury intrusion technique, which is normally used for measurement of pore volume. Results of an investigation of a ceramic porous component using these techniques are presented and critically examined.
