Actinides Partitioning and Transmutation in France: Programs and Achievements

(1) Plutonium can be efficiently multi recycled in PWR (2) Higher radiotoxicity decrease requires MA recycling, fast neutron spectra (3) MA (and some LLFPs) could be efficiently recovered from PUREX HLLW: 1. DIAMEX/SANEX/(SESAME) hot runs: up to 99.9% recovered 2. These results open the way of a possible specific management of LLRNs (4) Advances in specific matrices for high durability conditionhg (5) Advances in dedicated fuel development, but further work needed (Phenix experiments planned from end 2002) (6) ADS appears well suited for high consumption of MA/(LLFPs) in a dedicated strata; CEA contributes to international work in thisfield (7) International cooperation: an essential need for future !!
