摘要

Respiratory tract infections are frequently associated with thrombotic events, which contribute to severe outcome of the disease. Increased prevalence of antiphospholipid antibodies (APLA) in several bacterial infections have been reported and these autoantibodies may be important inducers of the hipercoagulable state In the present study we try to determine the prevalence of pathogenic APLA in 30 patients with bacterial respiratory tract infections and concomitant thromboses, and their relationship with other coagulation and inflammation markers. APLA were present in 92% cases, the most frequent being lupus anticoagulant. APLA amplifying the inflammatory processes are related with severe thrombotic events and severe clinical outcome, and their presence over time may be a trigger for the autoimmune activity.
