SEROPREVALENCE OF SALMONELLA CHOLERASUIS IN BACK YARD PRODUCTION IN CHIAPAS, MEXICO

The production of pork in one of the branches of animal production that has reached in Mexico a high degree of production technical due to the high quality of meat for human consumption. However in rural Mexico, specially in the state of Chiapas the predominant form of production is in family operated small farms in the backyard of country and suburban homes. This type of farms plays a very important social and economic role (3). The necessary low technology of these small family farms, creates a number of problems not the least of which is sanitary. Pig salmonelosis is an important zoonosis specially in these close societies where pigs and humans coexist in small spaces.
