QUALITY CONTROL GUIDELINES FOR TIAMULIN (DENAGARD~(TM)) SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING

Quality control (QC) limits for testing the susceptibility of bacteria to veterinary antimicrobial agents must be established to ensure the accuracy of the test procedures. The multicenter QC study described here reports QC ranges of the MICs and diskdiffusion zone diameters for tiamulin which were accepted by the NCCLS Veterinary Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (VAST) committee in August 2001. Tiamulin is a pleuromutilin derivative used in the control and treatment of swine respiratory and enteric pathogens.
