ANALYSING SWINE FARMS ACCORDING TO THEIR BIOSECURITY MEASURES

Biosecurity measures for swine farms are diverse and extense (1,2,4) and most of them are related to the entrance of swine from other farms, foreign people and wild or domestic animals. The aim of this work was to analyse and to cluster swine farms according to their biosecurity measures and to determine if different biosecurity levels could be established. A survey was designed which included all biosecurity measures cited in published papers (1,2,4). One hundred and seventy two farrow-to-weaning and farrow-to-finish commercial farms integrated to an enterprise were surveyed for their biosecurity measures.
