STUDY OF LAWSONIA INTRACELLULARS INFECTION IN BREEDING STOCK AND SUCKLING PIGLETS

Despite Porcine Proliferative Enteropathy (PPE) has focused a lot of research during the last years, there is a lack of information referring to Lawsonia intracellularis (L. i.) infection in breeding stock. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence and the influence of some production parameters on L. i. infection in breeding stock and suckling piglets. Farm: A conventional farrow-to-finish farm of 300 sows was selected. In this farm, an outbreak of chronic PPE had been diagnosed one monthbefore the study.
