Estonian Geoid 2002 by FFT

In recent years, additional gravimetric data (thousands of points), which are very important in Estonian context, have been obtained for regions with no previous data, such as the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Riga and the large lakes in the east of Estonia. In addition, a dense network (five points per 1 km~2) was determined by the Geological Survey as an 80-km strip in northern Estonia, including the biggest islands. The geoid has highly irregular characteristics on the islands of west Estonia and reveals a low of 80 cm in the Gulf of Riga; therefore it is interesting to investigate the influence of the new data on this feature. The new calculated gravimetric geoid has been checked against GPS/levelling points for both the islands and the mainland.
